This week, we return to our chat with the Executive Director of the Donna Foundation, Amanda Napolitano. We spoke with her back in January 202, when the Donna Marathon Weekend went virtual amid the pandemic. We want to revisit it as we head into our return to the weekend live in Jacksonville. Her spirit and passion are contagious! This is the way to kick off the week heading into the 15th anniversary of the race weekend.
The Donna Foundation is focused on a fundraising goal with the Weaver Challenge this year. Amanda says the foundation is pushing toward a $200,000 milestone as we approach the weekend, then ultimately to a $300,000 goal to meet the challenge and receive a $50,000 matching gift. The progress meter is here, and to donate or fundraise, folks should go here. The foundation serves increasingly more families with the pandemic impacts, so these funds are critical.
Beyond that, Runcation Nation, those running with us, running virtually, or being members of our cheer squad… let’s get ready to make the weekend a big celebration of love and survivorship!!! As Amanda said in her latest message to me, “Let joy lift your feet. That’s what it’s all about.”

RUN
The Jeff Galloway Half Marathon Weekend wrapped up with Jeff’s Half Marathon. This week, we recap Sunday’s race. It was amazing to have Aimee’s first live and in-person half marathon back in Atlanta. Jeff Galloway means so much to us as a coach and friend. Seeing him at the finish line of a tough race was a highlight of the weekend.
EAT
We took a recommendation from a member of the Runcation Nation for our carb-loading meal for this race. No.246 is a great little Italian restaurant in Decatur that Tyler (@tyler.d.johnson on instagram) recommended to us. Not too far outside Atlanta, we had another member of the Runcation Nation, Jojo, who was our “Uber” driver give us a lift and go to dinner with us there. She also took copious notes and deserves a producer credit for this episode! It did not disappoint from the appetizer to the main courses. The wait staff is knowledgeable. Next time, we want to go and sit at the Chef’s Table to see how they create these delicious dishes! (Important tip: Make a Reservation. This is a very popular place!)
DRINK
No.246 has an extensive list of cocktails and wine to choose from, so we all tried some, while of course, drinking plenty of water. This week, we talk about the drinks we had. (Spoiler alert: Aimee actually got some wine! We are trying to achieve our 2021 goal… so late.. of getting into some wine on the show!). All our choices were tasty and we’d recommend coming here and asking the wait staff about the drinks if you can’t decide. Rachel, our server, pointed us in the right direction for sure!
THAT’S A WRAP!

RUN
The Jeff Galloway Half Marathon Weekend started off with packet pickup and Barb’s 5K. This race is one of our favorites! With a nice easy run starting just outside of Piedmont Park then venturing through to get a great look at cute dogs in the dog park and back out to the finish. The weather was wet and not as cold as in years past, but we got to walk this one with a great friend of the show and had a blast being back at one of our favorite race weekends!
EAT
Dana remember fondly from his college years a fantastic breakfast spot, The Flying Biscuit. We decided to celebrate the 5K with a great breakfast there. There are no reservations and there could be a wait, but it is is worth it! We break down our amazing food, including southern favorites and more!
DRINK
The Flying Biscuit does have beer and wine, but not liquor, so what could be the perfect beverage to toast our 5K? Find out on this episode. These beverages were tasty and delicious. The Flying Biscuit was the perfect place to explore and indulge in a local Atlanta favorite!

Throwback Tuesday: Replay of The Mebisode at the 2019 Gasparilla Distance Classic
We will return next week with all new episodes. This week, as we do some work behind the scenes, we wanted to bring you an episode that always inspires us to keep pushing both in running and in life. This episode was originally published on March 13, 2019.
At the 2019 Gasparilla Distance Classic Weekend, yes we ran a half marathon, but we also got to catch up with a very special guest...Meb Keflezighi!
He is the only man to win the New York City Marathon (2009), an Olympic Silver Medal (Athens 2004), and the Boston Marathon (2014). We were so lucky to interview him before our race back in 2018 at Gasparilla, but Liam from Hawi Management arranged for us to have a few minutes with a very busy Meb Keflezighi to talk about his new book, 26 Marathons: What I Learned About Faith, Identity, Running, and Life from My Marathon Career. Thank you, Liam! It comes out on March 19th and we have to say that we have already pre-ordered it and can’t wait to read it and listen to the audiobook on our next long run after its release!
Meb is such a humble and genuine man. He has gone through so much adversity in his life and turned it into success. He knows so much more than how to win, train for, and complete distance races. He knows the importance of family and community. He is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and this latest book is only one way he does just that. He supports other runners, no matter their level, and gives back to the sport endlessly. He even spent time telling us about a couple of races he is involved in coming up in California that give anyone a chance to accomplish, explore, and indulge. I hope we get to do them soon!
We thank Meb for the precious time we spent talking about these life lessons from the book as well as what he has on the horizon this year. We know from our talk that this book is not just for runners, but a book for anyone who is looking to be successful in the marathon of life.
Like what you see? Tune in to the podcast on our website or subscribe on iTunes so you don’t miss a minute. Come accomplish, explore, and indulge with us!
THAT’S A WRAP

RUN
This week, we are training for a race weekend that is near and dear to our hearts. This is a weekend we are returning to after it had to go virtual last year: The Jeff Galloway Half Marathon Weekend. We discuss our training and preparation for the race weekend, which we hoped would be better than it really was, and what we are thinking our strategy will be for the weekend’s events.
EAT
We are talking about a holiday tradition in the Coston household: Eggnog-Panettone Bread Pudding. What great bread puddings have we had in the past during runcations? More importantly, why is this one our favorite to make for the holidays? It is a recipe we discovered on Food Network years ago that we make and take to family gatherings. We break it down this week.
DRINK
We have talked about holiday drink recipes in the past. This week, we talk about the time we got introduced to a holiday favorite beer now that we can have beer again. Shiner Cheer is only available at the holidays, made in Shiner, Texas, and is so hard to find here in Florida. But we got some and we talk about why we love it on this week’s show.

RUN
Over Thanksgiving weekend, we ran a Turkey Trot that has a storied history in Orlando, but it was our first time participating. The Seniors First Turkey Trot was a 5K in downtown Orlando. It was a fun and well-organized race put on by the folks at the Track Shack. This week, we break down the pre-race festivities, race course, and medal.
EAT
The Thanksgiving Holiday marked the end of Dana’s 75 Hard Challenge and Aimee’s birthday. We celebrated both at a Tampa staple on the way home from the Turkey Trot. Charley’s Steak House has time-honored traditions, flavorful steak, and amazing sides that could have been meals all on their own! The service is impeccable and our meal will not be soon forgotten.
DRINK
Charley’s Steak House also has a very strong cocktail menu. The Pappy’s Rose Lemon Drop and Washington “Steak” Apple were tasty. We also had an Espresso Martini with dessert. There is something for everyone on this drink menu!

Travel Crud Strikes Back!
Wednesday Dec 01, 2021
Wednesday Dec 01, 2021
Well, this was supposed to be episode 192. However, apparently, Aimee and I caught the travel crud over the holiday weekend.
Rather than power through with voices that don't sound (or feel) great, we are doing a bit of self-care in hopes of a live stream on Thursday and back to a regular episode on Tuesday.
If you have a chance, please give last week's episode a listen. So many of you contributed and really made it a special one.
Thank you for your understanding and we'll talk with you really soon!

DRINK
Then we talk about our favorite beverages! Could there be beer involved? Bourbon? Coffee? What about all three? You know us!

RUN
Wine and Dine Race Weekend returned… LIVE! This year, as Aimee focuses on shorter distances, we opted to run the 5K and 10K, so we created our own sort of challenge. Dana likes to call it the Charcuterie Challenge… what do you think? This week, we talk about the 10K race distance, the race course, swag, and medal. We are so happy the races have returned!
EAT
The 2021 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is back, too! We sought out all the vegan options this year, and there were some tasty treats! We recorded our reactions as we tasted each dish. This week, we play it back and chat about our experiences over the weekend. This week we highlight offerings from the “Brew-Wing” and India booths.
DRINK
At the Wine and Dine Race Weekend Expo, we were able to sample non-alcoholic beer from Athletic Brewing. We sampled some on beer chats last week, but we have one more to share with all of you: Upside Dawn Golden Ale. We break this one down on the show this week.

RUN
2021 LCEC Goblin Gallop 5k was a local race at Jaycee Park in Cape Coral to benefit the United Way. It was early morning by the water and we got to see the sunrise. There was a breeze, too! It was a flat course with one water stop! We saw lots of people dressed up in costume. It was so much fun. It was the perfect race to practice some intervals ahead of our first big RunDisney race next week. So happy that we got to run this one locally to support a great cause! We were out there to enjoy it and enjoy it we did! We did this one last year and it was well-attended with more registered runners this year, which was great to see.
EAT
After the 5K at the Anchorage RunFest back in August, we really indulged by returning to and celebrating at Glacier Brewhouse. Last time we were there, we had a special occasion kind of meal. Good news: reservations are taken on Open Table and we highly recommend them. This time we had appetizers to share and they did not disappoint. We recorded our reactions as we ate the meal. It was great to see Glacier Brewhouse is still going strong.
DRINK
Glacier Brewhouse has their own original brews and we couldn’t help ourselves. You know what that means! We both had flights and recorded our reviews as we tasted them! We are so glad that this place stood the test of the last two years. They have a variety of styles and do each of them well.

EAT
It was a short 20-minute Lyft from our hotel in midtown Anchorage to Midnight Sun Brewing Company’s loft and brewery. Their brewing space and kitchen are located on the lower level. The loft is on the second level and has indoor and outdoor space where you can enjoy food and beer. They have a kitchen in the space where they make some tasty food, and we recorded our “hot takes” on tasty sandwiches and amazing soup. Yum! You must come to this place for a great meal if you are in Anchorage!
DRINK
Midnight Sun Brewing Company’s beer is also very tasty. We had several a few options from their menu and recorded our breakdown of the beverages while we were there. Midnight Sun Brewing Company has a wide array of styles and the flavors do not disappoint!
We loved the “beer forward” board where, after you buy someone a beer, you can post a note telling everyone why you chose to pay it forward to that person. We left a podcast sticker and paid it forward while we were there. It will be great to find out who that beer goes to and which tasty brew that person enjoys!

On this episode, we talk training. Dana talks about his 10K program and how his challenge is going. Aimee talks about her training and e-coaching with Jeff Galloway. We discuss our upcoming return to RunDisney, too.
EAT
Life - The Vegan Drive Thru has been open in Cape Coral for quite some time, but this is the first time we have tried it. It is not just a Drive Thru! This location serves entirely vegan breakfast and lunch options inside as well as in their drive thru. We talk about what we had for lunch, but we definitely want to revisit this tasty place for breakfast and more!
DRINK
BJ’s Bites is another spot in Cape Coral that opened last Tuesday. It has milkshakes! We had to stop by and try them. Dana had a chocolate peanut butter. I had a coffee milkshake. They were decadent and flavorful! Definitely a great accompaniment to the comfort food we ate there. We wish them great success at their new place.

RUN
While we were at the Anchorage RunFest, we had the pleasure of meeting up with two inspirational figures in the running community: Marko Cheseto and Bart Yasso. We heard Marko give a talk at the pasta feed on Saturday of the race weekend. We think the lessons he talked about are worth sharing and we do so from a bit of audio we captured at the luncheon. We discuss these lessons and what they mean to us in running and life as well. (Please forgive the audio. A fire alarm was going off for much of Marko’s speech. His message is worth hearing and hopefully you can get past that to hear the meaningful message. Thank you for hanging in there, if you can.)
EAT
Grizzly Dogs Food Truck was outside of King Street Brewing while we were in Anchorage for the Anchorage RunFest. When we saw their menu, we couldn’t help but try their signature item, "The Grizzly Dog" for 10.00. They chop a reindeer sausage and smother it with sautéed onions, peppers and cheese sauce. Yum! There are other items on their menu that piqued our interest, so… of course we definitely want to get back to it when we are in Anchorage again.
DRINK
King Street Brewing is a big space with tasty beer on the menu and a beautiful view of the mountains in Anchorage. You can sample their beer from any of the three stories while you look over into the brewing facility or you take a seat by a window and admire the beautiful Mountain View while having a cold one. They have a wide variety of styles on their menu. We talk about what we had while we were there. We hope to get back to this neat space with so many friendly beer tenders.

RUN
We ran a great Medal Chasers Virtual while we were staying at Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando at Walt Disney World. This week, we discuss completing Medal Chasers Maximum Effort 5K celebrating the anti-hero Deadpool. The medal was such a great design, as always! We love what Kristina and Bill do at Medal Chasers. We were so excited to do this race to support Shriners Hospital for Children, too.
EAT
We finally scored a reservation at Sebastian’s Bistro at Caribbean Beach Resort after trying for several weeks! We specifically wanted to try this place because they have a 3-course, family-style meal offering that is plant-based as well as a version for meat lovers, too! Reservations here are limited because they are only open for dinner. In addition, there are some days they are not open. We wish it was available all day, 7 days a week! So good!
DRINK
Sebastian’s Bistro also had great drinks, both non-alcoholic specialty drinks and cocktails that are very tasty! Aimee had a Marooned Pig Old Fashioned… smoky bourbon and bacon goodness! Dana, who is currently completing the 75 Hard, had a Sebastian Island Paradise that made us wish we were on a beach sipping that frozen and refreshing beverage. Sebastian’s Bistro has rum flights, too! So good!

RUN
This week we recap our September race. Earlier this month, we completed the Great Smoky Mountains 5K in Townsend, Tennessee. The packet pickup was great, and the Expo had beautiful swag. The race had a safe and well-directed neighborhood path. The medal and post-race snacks were great. The best part, though? We did it with a member of the Runcation Nation no less, Tina! Congratulations to Tina for completing her first live and in-person 5K race. She crushed it, and we couldn’t be happier to say that we were lucky enough to be a part of it! Can’t wait to get back to this beautiful part of the country! Gatlinburg and Townsend are beautiful and full of places we want to explore in the future!
EAT
We ate a classic Steakhouse dinner to celebrate the accomplishment that was within walking distance of our hotel in Gatlinburg, The Peddler Steakhouse. It reminded me of some of the great places our families used to take us as kids on special occasions. We started with an appetizer of fried mushrooms and cauliflower with honey mustard. With a salad bar and tasty steak entrees that were too tempting to pass up, we got a Prime Rib and Ribeye to try with loaded baked potatoes. The shrimp, salmon, and chicken dishes looked like winners, too.
DRINK
We toasted our accomplishment at Gatlinburg Brewing Company. Each one of us had a flight and recorded our reactions right inside this brewery located right in the heart of all the happenings that draw vacationers to Gatlinburg. There was an eclectic collection of original brews plus some guest taps, too. Everyone was friendly and there was entertaining live music, too.

RUN
This week we ran our We Love Truckers (Rob Nadeau Memorial) Virtual Race. It is a virtual race of a variety of distances honoring the life of one of our own lost too soon, Rob Nadeau. It supports organizations that he wanted to highlight and help, St. Christopher's Trucker Relief Fund and Koch Trucking. These organizations work to support and show appreciation for many Truck Drivers across the United States. We ran our miles at the beautiful Laurel Falls Trail in Tennessee during Truck Driver Appreciation Week (September 12 - September 18). This week culminated in Rob’s birthday on the 18th.
This was our first ever trail walk or hike. We saw so many beautiful sights that Rob would have loved and learned some important life lessons along the way. We recap them on this episode.
Find out more about St. Christoper’s Trucker Relief Fund at:
Find out more about Koch Trucking:
We love and miss Rob with all our hearts. He was one of the earliest and biggest supporters of our show. We are so glad to honor him this week.
EAT
Bennett’s Pit BBQ was right around the corner from our hotel in Gatlinburg. Sam was a great host and server in the last hour they were open because we were rather late getting there after our race. This place has amazing BBQ and we got to sample it fresh off the smoker the same day plus have a unique appetizer we have never seen before! We break it all down on this episode. If you are in Gatlinburg, give them a visit! They also have a location in Pigeon Forge, too!
DRINK
Bennett’s Pit BBQ also highlights local moonshine on its cocktail menu. We had watermelon and sweet tea cocktails featuring Ole Smoky Moonshine. They were so flavorful and potent! We highly recommend these from their menu!
