RUN
This week, it was time for a long run. Aimee talks about challenges with the motivation to get it done. It is also a week to talk about taking it easy around an injury and not overdo it. Dana talks about how to get it done with a busy work schedule. He also updates us on his testing of his latest training tool.
We also discuss the latest in a series of races to convert to virtual: Walt Disney World Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. Which races are next? Should we write off 2020 all together? Does that mean Marathon Weekend 2021 is in jeopardy? Will smaller, local races still happen? Have you seen any or run any smaller races? Only time will tell...
EAT
This week we wanted to feature a recipe we discovered in The Healthspan Solution that will help us stay on track with our training. Big flavors are a hallmark of Indian cooking and we needed some this week, so we made Chana Masala. It is a hearty and flavorful stew served over rice. It is really not hard to make and has the spice we were craving. We featured the The Healthspan Solution on episode 108 and 109 as well, when we were lucky enough to talk with authors Julieanna Hever and Ray Cronise. It has become a cornerstone of our cooking at home.
The Healthspan Solution has great recipes that are plant-based and flavorful! And you can absolutely add protein while increasing the nutrient-dense content in your meals without sacrificing flavor.
You can get the hardback version of the book here or the Kindle version by clicking here.
And if you want to hear more from Ray and Julieanna, check out their podcast, Science and Saucery.
DRINK
The local brewery scene has taken a hit lately, so we have decided to show some love to these places that we want to see make it through this tough time for many in the beer industry. Millennial Brewing has a beer that intrigues us this week and we had to try it.
Pickle juice has long been rumored to help runners with cramps. But what about a pickle beer? We posted a picture of one in our Runcation Nation Facebook group. Then we found one locally at Millennial Brewing. Enter La Picklabod Pickle Sour. Will it taste like carbonated pickle juice and make us pucker? No, actually. It is a milder flavor and it cries out for a juicy cheeseburger, with pickle, of course!
THAT’S A WRAP!

RUN
This week we did the RunDisney Virtual 5K honoring the classic attraction Space Mountain. We headed to Punta Gorda and found Laishley Park to complete this run. It was a great view of the water with paved paths. It would even provide us with bridge-work, if we needed it. We have earned the medal and cannot wait to receive it as it was one of the first coasters that captured our hearts and still makes us feel like kids again.
EAT
Leroy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar was a wonderful find in Punta Gorda. It has the atmosphere of a country kitchen. We had a Fried Green Tomato appetizer with a different spin and great dipping sauce. Our meals were incredible as well, from Pork and Pancakes to a classic. Ribeye with the perfect char and sides. We had a dessert that took us back to childhood in the banana cream pudding. There was so much more on the menu to try. We will return and think you should too! Leroy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar Is one of our favorites that we’ve featured on the show.
DRINK
Leroy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar is a bourbon bar and boasts a substantial cocktail list as well as a wide variety of Florida locals on tap perfect for a refreshing post-run beverage. There were several different types of Old Fashioned cocktails, but we had to have the Cornbread Old Fashioned. Cornbread-infused whiskey? Sign us up. It was so delicious! We’ve got to go again and sample a few more of their original creations.

RUN
This week, we completed Jeff Galloway’s 75th Birthday Challenge by going 7.5 miles on our Sunday long run. We also completed the Run for the Dogs 5K Virtual this week as well. We talked with listener, Jenn, who introduced us to it. This gave us a chance to hear a great story behind her rescuing her dogs and talk about this race that supports multiple shelters across the country. The cotton t-shirt, bib, and cute medal were great race swag sent to us in addition to being able to support a cause near and dear to our hearts.
Remember, if any of you are looking for a virtual race, we have a discount code for the Virtual Pace Series website to offer everyone in the Runcation Nation. Use RUNEATDRINK10 at their website to get 10% any event! We will be doing one soon!
EAT
Dunedin is a town that we were able to visit when we were away in Clearwater visiting family last month. In this town, we found a trail perfect for running that we want to get back to soon, and on this trail, there were, you guessed it... breweries! We found HOB Brewing Company as they hosted the Ramen and Waffles Food Truck. This food truck put out some amazing Asian cuisine, including a Cubano Bao and some great Kimchi Chicken Steamed Dumplings. It doesn’t sound like it is the kind of food you’d find on a food truck, but it delivered spicy and delicious flavors that we loved!!
DRINK
HOB Brewing Company has a huge outdoor space with pet-friendly space right next to the fitness trail and both shaded and sunny places to stop off and have a tasty beverage. HOB Brewing Company has a wide variety on their beer menu. From Peanut Butter Blonde to Liquid Swords Lager and a Cool Cucumber IPA, there is something for everyone! Great and friendly people were hanging out in a laid-back environment. We loved it, and we want to get back there soon!

RUN
This week, we are privileged to help celebrate our running coach’s 75th birthday! Jeff Galloway, America’s Coach, and ours, turns 75 on July 12th! There is no way we could ever thank him for the inspiration, expertise, support, friendship, and love he has shown us. We are so lucky to have him on the show this week.
First, we want to tell everyone about his 75th Birthday Challenge. There are many ways to help him celebrate. You can do 75 miles in the month of July, 7.5 miles on July 12th, 75 laps around a track or 1/4-mile segments, or a 75-lap relay. You get an official race number and website to log your miles as well as an e-certificate for completing your challenge!
Second, of course, we want to share his expertise. The summer running season is upon us, and we need to run safely when we are outside. The dramatic rise in heat and humidity requires us to train smart. Jeff shares tips and tricks for combating the heat and being successful in the heart of the summer.
Here’s a link to his article recapping his tips for running in the heat.

EAT
Dunedin is a town that we were able to visit when we were away in Clearwater visiting family last month. We were introduced to Dunedin Brewery back during the Fit Foodie Run on Episode 14 of our show. Their brewery is so beautiful. It looks like a castle set back in the Medieval Times. There is seating indoors right along with the tanks where they brew their delicious beer and really well-shaded outdoor seating as well. We had Fried Pretzel Bites with Brown Ale Mustard and Beer Cheese. They were so tasty. The pretzel was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside with just the right amount of salt. The mustard was tangy and the beer cheese was warm, melty, and just the right amount of bite in flavor.
DRINK
Dunedin Brewery also has amazing beer. We had the Apricot Peach and the air. Pilsner. They were full of flavor, light, crisp, and refreshing for a hot summer day. Both were inexpensive at $6 and $5 for a 16-ounce pour and they were sessionable offerings at 6.2 and 4.2 ABV. Come stay awhile! We wanted to have much more of their beer menu

RUN
We got some sad news this week in the running community about the NYC Marathon and updates to the Marine Corps Marathon. But the saddest one of all for us was the Donna Marathon Weekend announcement. We talk about how that has impacted the running community.
RunDisney Virtual Race Series has begun! The first 5K in that series themed around the Mad Tea Party. We were making plans to ensure it is full of Disney magic, but the Florida weather had other plans with a “feels like” temperature of 101! Yet, we accomplished the goal and let the fun medal inspire us. We did it at home because, sadly, Walt Disney World has not reopened yet. It was a flat course, and hot.
Remember, if any of you are looking for a virtual race, we have a discount code for the Virtual Pace Series website to offer everyone in the Runcation Nation. Use RUNEATDRINK10 at their website to get 10% any event! We will be doing one soon!
EAT
We were able to get away to Clearwater, Florida last weekend and explore some local favorites. North Island Bar & Grille was awesome! It is a little place tucked away off the beach, but the food is amazing! We shared the Argentina Reds. These were huge peel and eat shrimp tossed in garlic butter Cajun sauce and served with buttery garlic bread. It was $11 and worth every penny! It was so good we tried to go back for more later that evening, but the kitchen was already closed. We loved the island color scheme and the staff was super friendly! Kick back and relax at the bar indoor or outdoor seating. Have some great food along with some local brews and great cocktails.
DRINK
In our very first episode, we went to The Columbia along the Tampa Riverwalk. It was a throwback to childhood for Dana and to some incredible times of celebration in our family. Now that their restaurant group is reopening its locations, we decided to celebrate by toasting with one of our favorite drinks from there at sunset by the beautiful water view at their Clearwater location. A Pete’s Manhattan was in order for us! It is a strong cocktail but full of flavor from Knob Creek, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth, and a dash of Ramazzoti Amaro. Hall of fame bartender, Pete Scaglione’s recipe for $9.95 but it tastes like they could charge so much more.

RUN
You know we love Marvel-themed races! Last summer, we did the RunDisney Virtual Race series celebrating 80 years of Marvel, and this year, thanks to a follower of the show, Kristin Ceneviva-Iovene, we found a race celebrating 80 years of Marvel for this summer. It is a great virtual, and a portion of the proceeds support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Peak Virtual Races is where she found this one, and they have some other great medals and themes to check out, too. It has a huge and colorful medal. You have to submit your time before they mail your medal. It is a great thing because it was so hot out there this week, so it was a great motivator!

We are also gearing up for our RunDisney Virtual Race Series, so we talk about our first 5K in that series themed around the Mad Tea Party. We are making plans to ensure it is full of Disney magic.
EAT
We were able to get away to Clearwater, Florida this weekend and explore some local favorites. One is Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill. It is one of three Frenchy’s locations on Clearwater Beach. We decided to take in the view out on the porch overlooking the beach. We got Tuna Nachos. They were different from the Ahi Tuna Nachos we got from Kiki’s Sandbar on Little Torch Key in Episode 74. House-made blue corn tortilla chips loaded with raw ahi tuna, eel sauce, gochujang sauce, avocado purée, pico de gallo, green onions, and fresh mangos. A more Mexican take instead of the Asian version we had headed down to Key West, these tuna nachos were fresh and a big plate of tasty tuna atop of crunchy tortilla chips. Perfect for sharing on the beach while relaxing after a run.
DRINK
Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill has great beach-themed cocktails perfect for sipping while taking in the Florida summer sun. One is called the Flip Flop Margarita. It has Frenchy's Rockaway Exclusive Barrel Select Patrón Añejo Tequila, Patrón Citrónge Lime and Mango Liqueurs with sour mix ~ served tall on the rocks with a salted rim and lime. It was different from some of the other margaritas we have featured on the show. In episode 26, it was a Rose Margarita at the 2018 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. Or on episode 53, it was the La Zia, a watermelon margarita from Sociale Italian Tapas + Pizza Bar. It was the perfect beverage for sitting on the beach with your toes in the sand soaking up the weekend!

RUN
Dana talks about getting in his final run for his Nano Gauntlet from Medal Chasers. The rain and humidity of Florida summer have been a challenge, but we did it. Our schedule, as with most other runners, has changed to a mostly virtual race schedule, and we are making plans and seeking out races to make it the best ever. To that end, if any of you are looking for a virtual race, we have a discount code for the Virtual Pace Series website to offer everyone in the Runcation Nation. Next weekend is Father’s Day, and we also talk about a couple of great gifts for the running dads out there! Check them out here:
The FitLife Nordic Walking Trekking Poles
EAT
Arekie Food Truck was recommended to us by one of our founders, and it did not disappoint. The food from this truck is top-notch and is a fusion of Latin and Indian Cuisine. We ordered Butter Chicken with Naan on the side. It had white rice and Tandoori Chicken in a creamy tomato sauce with pickled onion, cilantro, and cheese. It was rich, decadent, and could have been served in any upscale restaurant. There is so much more we want to try from this truck. We have seen it at many of our favorite places in Southwest Florida from Fort Myers Brewing Company to No. 3 Craft Brews.
Another place that created a great fusion dish that we got to try this week is Nice Guys Pizza. We were so happy to hear that we could sit inside once again at 2nd home for us and even more excited to hear they have created a Chicken Pizza Masala. Or if you are looking for a Vegan version, Tofu Pizza Masala. You can even ask for them with a bit of extra spice. We talk about how good it was to be there again and have this delicious addition to their menu.
DRINK
We celebrated National Bourbon Day over this past week, and in this episode, we talk about two of our favorite bourbons, Buffalo Trace and Larceny. Two of our favorites offer two unique flavors to experience as you celebrate with your favorite bourbon beverage. One made with more rye and the other with more wheat. We highlight these two and talk about some of our favorite bourbon cocktails.

RUN
This week we talk about the past four years and all the amazing running experiences this show has brought us. We have run in such great places and met so many inspiring, fun, and kind runners as a part of our journey on the show. We talk about some of the ones we remember so well. this week as we celebrate our anniversary.
EAT
We’ve met great people. We've also experienced tasty meals as a part of the show from all around the country. Which ones are the most memorable? Unique? Flavorful? It is so hard to choose. We talk about a few.
DRINK
On our podcast, we have been lucky enough to sample a variety of tasty brews and cleverly-made cocktails. We’ve had some non-alcoholic gems as well. We talk about some standouts over the years.
There are unforgettable people we’ve met, run, eaten, and had a drink with over the years, and can’t thank those of you we’ve met enough for all the good times we have had. We are especially grateful for our listeners and members of the Runcation Nation. We hope we’ve been a bright spot in your day and a source of humor, inspiration, and motivation over the years. We want to continue the tradition in our 5th year.

RUN
This week we talk about earning a great medal! We completed our 30k Gauntlet Challenge from the Medal Chasers website. This is a series of 5k runs for each infinity stone in the “Tony Stark” version of the gantlet medal called the Nano Gantlet. This virtual race series also benefits the Pinky Swear Foundation that supports children and their families fighting childhood cancer, just like the 10k version we completed a few weeks ago. This week we said we would reveal what’s on the back of the medal. It is so awesome! The runs were tough in the Florida heat, but we got it done!
EAT
This week, of course, was not a travel week for us, so we hit a local favorite, Mangia Food Truck while they were at Big Storm Brewing Company. Food trucks are making a big come back, and they support our local breweries being able to open back up more fully in the current situation. While the food truck is onsite, you can enjoy food and beer in the Taproom and at outside seating while observing all current state and local guidelines. So we are really grateful to trucks like Mangia. This week they had a special beer cheese on the menu made with Big Storm beer! It was served with a local bakery’s pretzel. Plus a new sandwich for vegetarian friends that was tasty, along with a few more of their great carnivorous offerings. We chatted with the owners, Nancy and John Bagliani about how they got this all started and what’s coming up on their menu. They are constantly innovating. We can’t wait to go back for more. They say they are steadily getting into the rotation around town, so follow Mangia on Facebook and get a tasty meal!
DRINK
Big Storm Brewing Company Is of course near and dear to our hearts. The very first beer we had on the show was their Wavemaker Amber Ale. With our 4th anniversary fast approaching, we wanted to highlight a new beer put on their menu this week that we fell in love with, the Premium American Lager. It’s light at 4.7 ABV and it has a great grainy and malty flavor. So session-able for the upcoming hot summer months.
THAT’S A WRAP!
Special thank you to our newest founder and patron of the show, John Schroeder! He supports the show with $5 a month and has his name on our patron wall here. Thank you, John, for helping us to accomplish, explore, and indulge right along with you!

RUN
This week we talk about our training runs in the Florida heat. We also kick off our 30k Gauntlet Challenge from the Medal Chasers website. This week was a tough one because we had to combat the Florida heat and humidity as well a forecast full of storms we had to plan our running around, so it became a bit tricky to time it just right and get it done. But we did it!
EAT
This week, we highlight the return of a local taco food truck called Death By Taco 239.
We are so happy to have it back on Mondays at Nice Guys, when the pizzeria is closed. We had the Saigon, Szechuan, and Rockefeller tacos. They came in an order of two tacos each on a corn tortilla. Our favorite? The Rockefeller. It has cornmeal-fried oyster mushrooms, pickled sweet corn, pickled mustard seed, preserved lemon aioli, shallot fennel slaw, and cilantro. So good!! if you want to hear more about this amazing truck, we featured them on Episode #106. We are so glad to see that they will be open again on a regular basis! Meet you anywhere they are, anytime!
DRINK
While eating the tacos, we got to sample a Mexican Lager that is new to us. Since the food truck was parked at Nice Guys Pizza at the time we ate, we were able to a beer that was on draft there called Pachanga from Sun King Brewery. We find similar flavor to other Mexican Lagers we’ve had in the past like No Nombre from Fort Myers Brewing Company or Modelo Especial. It is a lighter beer that is nice to have on a hot and humid Florida day after a run.
THAT’S A WRAP!
Special thank you to our newest insider and patron of the show, Rob Nadeau! We have never met in person, but we feel like we know him. He has called into the show before and continues to show us fantastic places to run as he posts in the runcation nation Facebook Group.

RUN
This week we recap a 5K from Virtual Pace Series, the May the 4th Be With You 5K. This race is from the Virtual Pace Series website. You might remember that we completed the Top Run Challenge from their collection and talked about it on episode 108 and 109. Our April race in Orlando at Walt Disney World, the Rival Run Challenge, was canceled, of course. So, that led us to complete a couple of different Star Wars virtual races from Virtual Pace Series to get our Star Wars race fix in at home. The medal is amazing, and this race also featured a bib that gave us numbers and, on the other side, finisher certificate.
EAT
In a week, we will all be celebrating Memorial Day Weekend. Usually, this is a long holiday weekend for most, filled with friends, family, and cookouts indicating the unofficial start of summer. While that may not be the case this year, we wanted to feature a recipe we discovered in The Healthspan Solution that will help us celebrate the holiday weekend with a classic dish that you might see at cookouts: potato salad. You will remember that we featured the Healthspan Solution on episode 108 and 109 as well when we were lucky enough to talk with authors Julieanna Hever and Ray Cronise. This dish, the Herbed Dijon Potato Salad is only one tasty salad recipe in the book that is hearty, filling, and makes us feel like we are celebrating, even though we are not necessarily indulging in a typical, high-calorie potato salad that may have the mayonnaise, bacon, and salt that we are trying to eliminate as we train for fall races.
The Healthspan Solution has great recipes that are plant-based and flavorful! And you can add protein while increasing the nutrient-dense content in your meals without sacrificing flavor.
You can get the hardback version of the book here or the Kindle version by clicking here.
And if you want to hear more from Ray and Julieanna, check out their podcast, Science and Saucery.
DRINK
Back in episode 110, we interviewed Erick Kanter, proprietor of Expedition Roasters. In our chat, we focused on the coffee, because as you know, we love great coffee. This week, we decided to branch out and taste his tea as well. His tea is popular, and we have other varieties on our wish list, but this week we tried Mrs. Nesbitt's Darjeeling Tea. This loose-leaf tea requires one teaspoon of tea to steep in 8 ounces of hot water. While Erick’s Disney-themed tea infusers are being restocked, we used a tea infuser that harkens back to our love of The Avengers and is shaped like Thor’s hammer! This tea has notes of apple and honeysuckle. Very comforting.
SPECIAL DISCOUNT ON EXPEDITION ROASTERS ORDERS FOR US!
Erick was kind enough to offer a special discount for our listeners! If you order from Expedition Roasters, use the code RED15 to get 15% off your order, so they know that you are part of the runcation nation!

RUN
This week we completed the last 2 runs in our 60k Gauntlet Challenge from the Medal Chasers website. This is a series of 10k runs for each infinity stone in the medal. This virtual race series benefits the Pinky Swear Foundation that supports children and their families fighting childhood cancer. This week we fought through the increasing humidity and heat that signals the start of Florida summer to earn those last two infinity stones.
This week, we are lucky to be joined by Bill and Kristina Craig, owners of Medal Chasers. We talk about their passion for running and what brought them to providing these virtual races for their fellow runners. We are on the waiting list for another one of their virtual challenges that looks amazing! From fun runs that benefit running clubs to virtual races that support a variety of charities near and dear to their hearts, Medal Chasers Bill and Kristina provide creatively designed medals and race bibs that you should check out! Plus they offer a My Race My Pace Medal Chasers group on Facebook for everyone to share their accomplishments and support each other in fitness endeavors, whether they are Medal Chasers events or not. Thank you to both of them for taking time to talk with us!
EAT
This week, we highlight a local breakfast spot, Perk & Brew that we went to when Aimee finished her final two 10Ks to complete the Gauntlet Challenge! Now that the local restaurants are able to seat 25% capacity inside, we went to check this little place out. It felt like a little vacation spot that we’d find if we were traveling. You know, the kind of little cafe where locals go to get great coffee and a hearty breakfast. The coffee was tasty and warm, plus the Egg Sandwich with fruit or sub tots for a $1.50 more was so tasty! You choose your bread, type of cheese, and meat. We got croissant, with bacon, and cheddar or pepper jack. Croissant is the way to go for the type of bread. It was buttery and flaky, while the cheddar added that salty note on top of warm scrambled eggs, and finally the smoky and crisp bacon made the perfect breakfast bite.
DRINK
Paul Cottrell, a leading local distiller and cocktail wizard joins us to create the final two fantastic drinks representing each infinity stone we earned. The time stone rum cocktail and the soul stone gin cocktail wrap it all up for us. Paul is a talented drink wizard who shows us creative drinks to celebrate our accomplishments. He first joined us last year for National Mojito Day 2019 and you can check him out on the Run Eat Drink Podcast Quick Bite #78.
The Time Stone
1 oz spiced rum
.5 oz triple sec (optional)
1 oz midori (melon liqueur)
.5 oz lemon juice
2.5 oz coconut water (You could also add some
juice to this like orange or grapefruit as long
as it equals 2.5 oz. You may need more
melon liqueur for the color if you do so.)
Shake and strain into an old fashioned glass with ice.
The Soul Stone
2 oz gin
1.5 oz orange juice
1 oz passion fruit juice (If you can’t find it, it is not required. You could just do 2.5 oz orange juice.)
.25 oz lemon juice
.25 oz lime juice
Bitters
Grenadine (Red Skull presentation)
Lemon lime soda (Red Skull presentation)
Shake and serve in a stemmed cocktail glass for classic drink. For The Red Skull presentation, you shake first. Take a tall glass and put a small layer of grenadine in the bottom. Then fill with ice and strain drink in, with the goal to keep them separated. Top with lemon lime soda once done.
THAT’S A WRAP!

RUN
This week we completed 2 more runs in our 60k Gauntlet Challenge from the Medal Chasers website. This is a series of 10k runs for each infinity stone in the medal. This virtual race series benefits the Pinky Swear Foundation that supports children and their families fighting childhood cancer. This week we fought through the rain and heat that signals the start of the hot and humid Florida summers to earn the Reality and Power stones.
EAT
It is Cinco De Mayo! We can’t get enough of Mexican food and thought we’d flash back to a place we went to in Saint Augustine on our way back home from the Donna Marathon Weekend. Osprey Tacos is in beautiful and historic Saint Augustine, Florida. They have street tacos, boulevard tacos, churros, and more! We ordered from their boulevard taco section on their menu and it did not disappoint! Plus, they are right next door to Old Coast Ales. Tacos and beer for the win! It was the last trip we had and we were feeling the need to reminisce. How are you celebrating Cinco De Mayo?
DRINK
Paul Cottrell, a leading local distiller and cocktail wizard is back to create two more awesome beverages representing each infinity stone we earned. The reality stone whiskey cocktail and the power stone whiskey and vodka cocktail are delicious. Paul is a talented drink wizard who shows us creative drinks to celebrate our accomplishments. He first joined us last year for National Mojito Day 2019 and you can check him out on the Run Eat Drink Podcast Quick Bite #78.
The Reality Stone
- 1.5 oz whiskey (or bourbon)
- 1 oz lime juice (blood orange juice would be fun)
- 1.5 oz cranberry juice
- Splash of grenadine (could also add some fruit bitters for a nice counterpoint)
Shake and either strain into an old fashioned glass with ice, or serve in a hi-ball glass.
The Power Stone
- 1 oz whiskey (could be bourbon or even brandy)
- .5 oz vodka
- 1 oz blue curacao
- .5 oz lime juice (could also add a little tart cherry or cranberry juice if you wanted a deeper purple)

Shake and serve in a martini glass.
THAT’S A WRAP!

EAT
This week, we highlight a local food truck that is doing some tasty Mexican dishes, King’s Tacos and Burritos. They had vegetarian options for us! So we had the Queen’s Burrito. A grilled burrito filled with veggies, rice, and beans, this dish was huge and filling. It came with a tomatillo and a spicy salsa that was authentic and crave-worthy! They are doing orders online and partnering with local breweries for a great and safe takeout experience. We can’t wait to go back and try more!

RUN
We have a very special interview from the host of the Be Our Guest Podcast, Mr. Mike Rahlmann. His podcast is a great resource for those who travel to Walt Disney World or who participate in RunDisney events. He talks some great RunDisney race memories that will help us get through this time when we can’t be at Disney crossing that finish line for the Star Wars Rival Run Challenge.
EAT
Mike also helped us out with the eating portion of our show! He talks about some great meals that he likes to get at Disney for pre-race and post-race meals. He has done the Dopey Challenge for several years and proves that the carb-loading meal does not have to be pasta. Although there are great Italian options on the property, Mike loves Olivia’s at Old Key West Resort. That buttermilk fried chicken and the staff there make it all worthwhile! We gotta check it out at the next race!
Thank you so much to Mike for spending time talking Disney with us!! You should really check out his podcast and if you are looking to plan a Disney vacation when all of this has passed, check out the Magic For Less Travel where he is a senior agent. Fill out a no-obligation quote and mention that you heard about it from the podcast so he can help you plan an amazing trip!
DRINK
We are so excited to bring you Erick Kanter, owner of Expedition Roasters. Erick talks with us about their coffee (although they make tea and cocoa, too!). The coffee brings a bit of Disney home through theme, story, art, and great flavor. Prospector’s Roast tastes just like a churro you’d get at our favorite theme park. Dana loves the Main Street U.S.A. Columbian Coffee that can take us back to people watching from a bench the way Walt Disney himself would upon entering the Magic Kingdom.
SPECIAL DISCOUNT ON EXPEDITION ROASTERS ORDERS FOR US!

RUN
In this run segment, we talk about a virtual race challenge we finished this week. We grew up in the ’80s, and we love so many movies from that decade. So when the Virtual Pace Series website introduced the Top Gun Challenge, and we saw the medal, we knew we had to do it. We recap our Half Marathon and the completion of our challenge this week.
EAT
We have been cooking from The Healthspan Solution by Ray Cronise and Julieanna Hever. This week it is time to hear the second part of their interview. Ray and Julieanna were so generous with their time. In this portion of our talk with them, they gave us such great information about the foundation of their book and how they got started in the field of plant-based eating and why it helps people “add life to their years.” Their book has great recipes that are plant-based and flavorful! And you can absolutely add protein while increasing the nutrient-dense content in your meals without sacrificing flavor.
You can get the hardback version of the book here or the Kindle version by clicking here.
And if you want to hear more from Ray and Julieanna, check out their podcast, Science and Saucery.
DRINK
We are gearing up for part 2 of #southcapetakeoutweekend2020 ! It is hosted to support local restaurants and breweries to showcase their contactless curbside and delivery options. We wanted to support them and help keep them going while following all safety protocols so that when we come through this, there are still the great places we know and love locally that we can explore and indulge.
One local that we want to feature this week is Narrative Coffee Roasters. Although not part of the takeout weekend, owners, Caleb and Megan MacPherson, are doing local contactless delivering of outstanding coffee from Naples to Punta Gorda. The coffee is thoughtfully selected and roasted. Caleb drops some great coffee knowledge on us this week. You can get his great coffee locally, or you can go to the website and have whole-bean or ground coffee delivered anywhere in the US! Thanks, Caleb! It was a great time!
THAT’S A WRAP!
Next week, we would have been at Walt Disney World, running the Star Wars Rival Run Challenge and completing the Kessel Run Challenge. We know many of you may be feeling the #fomo, too! We want to bring some RunDisney home! Share a RunDisney memory with us so we can make it a bit easier for everyone in the Runcation Nation! Our email is info@runeatdrink.net. Or you can call 941- 677-2733. Leave us a 1-minute message letting us know your favorite and even places you celebrated at Disney after the running was done!

RUN
In this run segment, we talk about a virtual race challenge we are starting this week. We grew up in the 80’s and we love so many movies from that decade. So when the Virtual Pace Series website introduced the Top Gun Challenge, and we saw the medal, we knew we had to do it. While you can complete a 5k, 10k, or half, they offer the challenge of completing all three. It is a great bib and a great medal, so we decided to do all three distances, and we started this week with the 5k, while reminiscing about classic scenes from this 1980’s hit and listening to its soundtrack during the run from Apple Music.

This week we were a part of a local event called the #southcapetakeoutweekend2020 that was hosted to support local restaurants and breweries in an effort to showcase their contactless curbside and delivery options. We wanted to support them and help keep them going while following all safety protocols, so that when we come through this there are still the great places we know and love locally that we can explore and indulge. One local establishment that we have actually done some live video from and celebrated the first year of our podcast from is No. 3 Craft Brews. They are a local beer bar and bottle shop providing some unique offerings that you can’t get everywhere. One such offering is the Southern Tier Nitro Hot Cocoa Imperial Milk Stout at 10% ABV. With chocolate and marshmallow flavors, it could be a dessert by itself!
